POSITION SUMMARY:
The Laboratory and Site Operations Associate supports laboratory services for Technical Operations Department and warehouse services for Site Operations Department. Main functions and responsibilities include: laboratory glassware washing, stocking consumables inventory, equipment service vendor coordination assistance, laboratory organization and safety, as well as shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of materials, supplies, mail, inter-office mail, and equipment to all areas of the Company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These may include, but are not limited to:
• Gather, wash, sterilize, and distribute lab glassware as needed
• Maintain stocks of lab consumables and chemical reagents
• Receive inventory goods ordered and stock as needed
• Verify packing slips and match inventory goods delivered
• Maintain log of inventory goods received
• Maintain log of shipments incoming and outgoing
• Deliver inter-department mail and supplies
• Provide mail services to and from the front desk
• Provide warehouse receiving area alternate coverage during core business hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM at a minimum).
• Assist Site Operations and Facilities Team with site activities and events, as needed
• Provide coordination assistance to third-party service providers
• Organize and maintain lab storage and warehouse spaces
• Conduct laboratory safety readiness and inspections periodically
• Backup lab support (e.g. buffer preparations, aliquoting/labeling samples, etc.) as needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Minimum of a High School diploma with 1-3 years of experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
• Proven administrative ability and workflow management
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Effectively communicate within a group and individually
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary groups in a fast-paced work environment
• Experience with inventory management is a plus
• Experience with basic lab techniques and lab safety protocols is a plus
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Equipment: PC, scanners, copy machines, voice-mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained.
• Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
• Internally, this individual will work with Purchasing, Facilities, and Technical Operations.
• External vendor relationships, such as evaluations of new vendors and communications with current vendors.
• Deal with multiple interdepartmental personnel
• Build/maintain relationships with internal customers and external vendors
EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
• Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, either sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; walking within laboratories and between buildings; as well as lifting up to 30 lbs. will be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job.
